Yi Deer
Yi Deer is a visual artist, whose work revolves around China’s history. In the Golden Fairy Tale series, he places himself as a character in historically significant places from the Cultural Revolution, while covered in golden paint from head to toe.

Yi Deer’s series is somewhat similar to Tseng Kwong Chi‘s works, albeit taken to a more surreal level. The motivations behind each photographer’s works are also different, Yi Deer seems to be more detached and historically linked while Tseng was working on a socio-commentary, casting himself as the main character.
