One of the first galleries I visited was Kathmandu Photo Gallery, owned by renowned Thai photo-artist, Manit Sriwanichpoom. The gallery was charming in its own right, almost the anti-gallery with its bright green walls and cramped surroundings.
On show now is a series of portraits by Manit. dealing with the stigmatism of living with HIV in Thai society. Thai society views AIDS/HIV negatively and large efforts has been in place to educate the general public. With their clear gaze and innocent smiles, these fourteen children represent thousands upon thousands of other guiltless victims just like them scattered across Thailand.
More on the show here.

Just wonderful, despite the subject. No theater, no mask, no pretense of artiness, just simple portraits, children laughters and a compassionnate eye. You must be in….Thailand, indeed!
so pure…and innocent. i like the photographs
