Personal

Breathe

It’s past 5 am and I spent the entire night trying to light some products for a client. I find myself unable to finish product shoots like this as quickly as I would like to; especially when I’m nitpicking over details that clients probably won’t even notice. I don’t do composites so I try to capture everything in a single frame, which unfortunately ends up taking a really long time. Do people still do this now, with Photoshop and all?

I pretend to be a film-purist but I actually chimp in the studio unnecessarily.

I seriously need to improve my lighting skills! I have not been learning much from my experiments despite keeping a lighting log. it does get frustrating after a while because I know I should be able to get my lighting right on the spot. And I hate objects with multiple reflective surfaces. I end up using so many flags and bounces that one wrong move could send everything tumbling down. It takes extreme dexterity to ensure that things don’t fall apart. I’ve got an inkling that I’m probably just overdoing it. Help!

The past few weeks had been extremely hectic trying to balance school work (exams in 3 weeks!!) and clients’ work, which means putting everything else on hold (hence the lack of posts). Been having a terrible urge to get some personal work done…3 unfinished frames sitting in my camera and two other rolls to send for developing. Told myself that I would only develop everything together once I finish the current roll but it has been two months since then.

G’night folks, it’s way past my bedtime. Just dropping a post to tell everyone that I’m still alive (somewhat). Will leave the rest of my work for tomorrow.

*Note to self: remember to have some fun soon*
