Weng Fen’s On the Wall (2001-2002) series reflects the state of change in China since its doors opened to capitalism. A lone girl sits on the walls on the peripherals of a rising cityscape, gazing into the distance.

In another series, Staring at the Sea (2003-2004), a family or a group of school girls are depicted looking out into large bodies of water. Staring at the sea is can be very therapeutic, it certainly helps me to think sometimes. Then again, it’s been awhile since I have gone to the beach.
